Chief Scientist for Manufacturing

Stephan Biller is the Chief Scientist for Manufacturing at General Electric. He is responsi­ble for GE’s advanced manufacturing strategy and the development of GE’s Smart Manufacturing Initiative across GE businesses to increase perfor­mance and productivity. Prior to being named to this position in April 2012, he was a Technical Fellow & Global Group Manager for Sustainable Manufacturing Systems at General Motors’ R&D. Dr. Biller received a Dipl.-Ing. degree in Electrical Engineering from RWTH Aachen, a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering and Management Science from Northwestern Univer­sity, and an MBA from the University of Michigan. Dr. Biller has been granted nine patents, has 17 active patent applications, developed 22 trade secrets, and co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications.
