Julie A. Kientz is an Assistant Professor in Human Centered Design & Engineering at the University of Washington. Dr. Kientz's research focuses on understanding and reducing the user burdens of interactive technologies for health through the design of future applications. She has developed and studied mobile, sensor, and social applications for people with sleep disorders, parents of young children, and individuals with autism or visual impairments. Dr. Kientz received her Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2008, was awarded a National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 2009, and named her department’s Junior Faculty Innovator in 2012.
